Hi, I’m John and I’m a freelance writer, law graduate, and a sports content creator!

I have been covering the NBA and creating content one way or the other for the last five or so years, so with a lot of my work being all over the place on different sites at different points, here’s a portfolio of all my work in one place. So far, a lot of my work revolves around covering the Miami Heat. That has been my focus on All U Can Heat, Hot Hot Hoops, Miami Heat Beat, or my Simply Ballin Substack.

In these four years, I have:

• Covered the Miami Heat for three full seasons, including providing individual game coverage for the playoffs
• Created over 400 long-form pieces of content across different platforms & mediums
• Run a weekly series for Miami Heat Beat & now for Simply Ballin
• Produced videos doing film breakdowns
• Produced podcasts
• Provided game coverage through social media with over 200 threads breaking down games
• Grew my Twitter platform to over 4k followers with over 5 million impressions a month

Outside of basketball, I have a personal Substack. That's where I focus on non-basketball related topics by documenting my experiences and diving into broader topics. On top of that, I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a 2:1 law degree. I've been part of a basketball team for almost 10 years, whether at school, university, or local leagues, and now being part of the London Coaches Programme.

All of this meant having to self teach myself a bunch of skills to effectively cover the league:

• Content management system & analytics
• Data visualisation
• Video editing(Adobe)
• Building websites(WordPess, Webflow, Wix).

Currently, I’m looking for any opportunities involved around social media, content creation, copy writing, journalism and marketing.
